For 150 years, Howard University has cultivated a rich legacy of breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for young leaders from diverse backgrounds. CHIEF is a long-standing partner of the university, frequently working with the Office of University Communications (OUC) to communicate Howard’s position as a major metropolitan research institution with top-notch academic offerings enrolling outstanding students.
With the 150th anniversary of its founding approaching rapidly, Howard set out to identify a captivating and all-encompassing logo and slogan to commemorate this important
milestone and celebrate the achievements of this vital institution, its august alumni, and its extraordinary students. Howard re-engaged CHIEF to develop an appealing, inclusive and
unique brand identity to mark this momentous occasion. Following a detailed assessment and a swift but immersive research period, CHIEF presented Howard University with a series of polished logos and inspired slogans from which to choose. It wasn’t long before Howard
representatives reached consensus. The finished product included the primary logo, a comprehensive visual identity direction, and our original slogan, “The Time Is Always Now.” This cohesive brand system is now the face of Howard’s sesquicentennial anniversary, leading the way to the next 150 years of excellence.
